loo-ah-vul

We recently made a trip to Louisville for some speaking engagements. We took advantage of what the city has to offer & hit up the zoo. It was great weather & we had a wonderful time as a family. This was definitely a step up from the zoo in Niamey ... but a step down from walking with the giraffes! We also met up with my sister & her family (who were in town from NC visiting her husband's family). It was a great weekend!

Isabelle & Mark checking out the pink flamingos

Tigers! Izzy was getting a little restless at this point. She was missing her nap & getting a little irrational about wanting to walk or ride in the stroller ... so we resorted to Daddy's shoulders!

The gorillas were by far Isabelle's favorite animal. Pulling her away from them ... not so fun!

Seeing hippos at eye level! Isabelle is in love with water & animals, so she was amazed to see both combined!

Checking out the elephants. Luke just chilled in the sling for the entire trip!

This lion was massive!

Is Izzy staring at the animals? Nope! My friends, this child is her mother's daughter ... a perpetual people watcher! All those animals to be admired & she was fascinated with other people!

Izzy would not cooperate for a picture by the sign with Luke & I. So we just had a Mommy/son photo.

We managed to snag one of her anyways!

This was an attempt to get one of her with Mark

A day at the zoo, no nap, swimming all afternoon & an empty stomach ... what do we do? Let's take the kids to a Japanese restaurant with an hour wait for food! But they surprisingly did well. Isabelle entertained herself with chopsticks for a while!

Uncle Nate & cousin Chord waiting for the show to begin!

Aunt BJ & cousin Emory

Best buds ... Izzy & Em!

This was Isabelle's reaction to the fancy moves by the Japanese chef!
