I am a beach girl through & through! I love everything about the beach! And I was SO excited when we were able to squeeze 3 itty bitty days into our calendar for just our family to go to the beach. It was beyond crazy to travel like we did & add another trip to our schedule, but we needed it. We needed to spend some time with just the 4 of us on one of God's most heavenly creations ... the beach! And Myrtle Beach, no less. I spent a bazillion vacations here as a kid & even though it's changed quite a bit since then, the beach is the beach & it's great no matter where you are!
Izzy loved the beach right away (or the "big wa-wa" as she liked to call it). Unfortunately, Luke did not like the heat, the sand, the water, na-da! We rented one of those umbrella/chair combos with the expectation to spend a full day at the beach with Luke napping on our chests & Izzy just foregoing a nap to play in the ocean. However, after 3 hours at the beach, it's novelty wore off & Luke was screaming, Izzy was melting down & these 2 parents said, "Enough!" We opted to eat the money we had just spent on those crazy ridiculous umbrellas & go back to the hotel for a real nap.
Luckily, after a great nap & some R&R by the pool, the kids were ready to hit up a seafood restaurant, ice cream parlor & some family pics by the beach. The trip definitely ended on a very high note! We had a great time & look forward to when we can actually spend a week there next time we're home!
Isn't he just the most precious, chubby baby boy you've ever seen?!
Okay, please ignore the beached white whale sitting next to Izzy! She was just so cute wanting to sit in the sand & watch the waves come in. We could've sat there for hours & hours!
But, unfortunately, the tides were coming in & the water kept getting closer & closer!
Our family day at the beach! It was so stinkin hot & the sand was hot enough to melt the soles of your feet! If Isabelle wanted to play in the water, you had to carry her & sprint to the ocean (which is not an easy task). So we tried to all cram under the umbrella to stay cool.
To keep Izzy occupied under the umbrella, we kept feeding her snacks ... which ended up being sandy snacks after awhile because she kept getting sand everywhere! She couldn't understand to keep her feet off the seat, but bless her heart, that sand was so hot she didn't have anywhere else to put them!
Yum & yum!!
So sweet!! This girl loves her Daddy!
Isabelle says, "More please!"
Soon & very soon little fella!
Finally!! This is one of the first times that Isabelle actually rode one of these things without freaking out! It was definitely a picture worthy moment!
Yeah for family pictures by the beach ... with a camera's self-timer of course!
This is the cutest picture ever but, unfortunately, I can not figure out how to turn it around once it's already loaded into Blogger.
I love my crazy kids!!
Everybody was loving the beach this time!
See ya in 4 more years, Myrtle Beach!
