As I have stated in other posts, during our last few weeks in the States, we tried to get in as much of "America" as we could. There are just not many options for "fun stuff" outside the home in Niger, so we wanted to take advantage of as much as we could with Isabelle & Luke before our time ran out.
It so happened that we needed to make a trip to Sioux Falls to visit Sam's Club a few weeks before we left (aka - a last minute run to buy tons of stuff for our crate). While in Sioux Falls, we hit up the Great Plains Zoo. Oh & I almost forgot the real reason we were there - Mark had an emergency appointment with a dentist to have a crown put on!
But onto the zoo ... Isabelle, of course, LOVED it! It had a train which was a major plus! Giraffes ... check! Zebras ... check! Flamingos ... check! Monkeys ... check, check, check!! The child L-O-V-E-D the monkey house! I have never seen her get so excited over another animal in all my life. And those monkeys were putting on a show for the Belle, too! They even came to the window to put their hand on it for Isabelle to "touch." When it was time to go (aka - Mommy & Daddy were outgrowing the monkeys), Isabelle had nothing short of a melt down because she somehow grew very attached to them in the 10 minutes we were there! Nonetheless, we had a grand ole time at the zoo!
Those were her impressions of a flamingo!
And somehow over the summer, Isabelle magically outgrew her fear of mechanical rides. She rode this one 4 times before we left the zoo!
